Objective of the placement cell is to place the students in good companies. This is achieved through campus selections conducted in the college for which the students are trained in aptitude, technical and soft skills, much ahead of campus selections.
To facilitate better selection, training facility is made available to a wide spectrum of students and the basic training starts from the first semester itself where in, the students are taught basic grammar and communicative English. Each student is required to accept the first confirmed offer mutually agreed upon. There after, the student will not be permitted to participate in further recruitment process.
The placement activities started during April 2005 and as on today, 188 students have been placed in various companies and the details are given below.

We at SRTIST are vibrant community with emphasis on holistic development. Extra Curricular Activities are encouraged and students are active participants in such activities.
SRTIST is not only involving all its students in the national level professional bodies like ISTE students chapter it is motivating the students to come together and form their own professional associations with a view to directly contribute to the process of producing and shaping top quality professionals required by the various industries & organizations
Now there is a Computer Engineering Students Association (CSA), Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA), an Electronics Engineering Students Association (EESA), and a Chemical Engineering Students Association (CHESA). Through these associations institute is arranging various academic programmers .It has conducted state level workshop in Finite Elements Methods &Seminar on Environmental science and Acheson a national level one.
Many of SRTIST students have presented technical papers and participated in number of state and national level technical seminars and symposia and won laurels. The Institute has membership in many professional bodies like ISTE and IICHE.The ISTE Chapter was recently inaugurated in the Institute and now it is planning to have ISTE student chapter.
The activities of games and sports are conducted on a regular basis. Inter departmental competitions are held on different occasions. Many of our students have represented the college and University in many events, at various levels, cultural and literary activities are also encouraged in the Institute.
NSS Activities have been being going on in the Institute for a long time now with a view to include a sense of social responsibility and service in the students. Recent activities of NSS include a blood donation camp on the campus, an awareness program on HIV/AIDS and raising of Tsunami relief fund. The Institute has started its own Red Cross Center with the coordination of local Indian Red Cross Society.
The Institute also keeps in touch with the parents of the students. They are regularly informed of the attendance and performance of their wards. Recently one parents meeting was also held in the Institute inviting their suggestions and constructive criticism in the functioning of the Institute.

SRTIST Provides the hostel facility for the out station boys and girls in the town. Girls hostel is maintained by the college itself and the boys are accommodated in private hostels with homely atmosphere.

Hostel & accomodation:
The College has a campus hostel meant exclusively for girls. With a three storied building consisting of 87 rooms accommodating a maximum of 400 students, a spacious dining hall, T.V. & Audio Room, T.T. Room, Shuttle Badminton Court, standby generator, lush green lawns, flower gardens etc., not forgetting the near foolproof security arrangements, the hostel is considered a veritable home away from home by its inmates. A Computer Centre was established exclusively for the inmates of the hostel with free internet facility and is networked to the main Computer Centre of the College. Accommodation for girl students is also provided in the girls hostel located in Bapatla College of Arts & Science campus run by the same Management.

JITM is a residential institute; hence it is desirable for every student to stay within the campus. All the students can be accommodated on campus in well-equipped rooms in the institute hostels. The hostels have all modern amenities including a mess with multi cuisine food, TV room, common room with indoor games & a modern multi-gym facility. The hostels can accommodate 260 boys, and a separate ladies hostel has been added to the institute's ever growing infrastructure. The campus wide intranet (which is being laid) will provide connectivity to all the hostels. The hostels are supervised by members of the staff and are managed by the student representatives.
