Arranges :- a) Campus interviews for final year students. b) In-plant training for pre-final year students. Gets industry sponsored projects for both final year students and faculty. Arranges expert lectures from personnel of various specializations from industries and scientific organizations for the benefit of students and staff. Helps departments in organizing industrial tours and field visits for both students and staff. Trains the students for interviews by conducting mock interviews by the industry personnel. Modern College of Engineering has started the campus interview movement from 2002. The Training and Placement department was established by Dr. P. P. Chikte. (Director) when first batch of students was in Third year. What is it? It is a single window approach for both i.e. for the students of Modern College of Engineering and the companies to meet on a common platform. The placement cell tries to match the interests of both the groups acting as a coordinating agency. The Placement percentage for the academic year 2003-04 is nearly 75%. Some of the companies that visited our college for campus interviews are Bajaj Tempo, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, PAMPACK, Bharat Forge, Thermax, KOL, Cummins, PSPL, KPIT, Calsoft, Itake, V Customers, Zensoft. Why do we encourage? Provides an opportunity to every eligible student to prove the merit and receive employment during the academic year itself. The appointment order is received before the final year students are declared. Students need not hunt for jobs through newspapers, placement agencies etc. after the result. Students going through the placement service have found jobs in fewer number of interviews than others. How and when do we recognize interviews? Students indicate their preferences for companies well in advance after studying different brochures and then register their names, in the placement cell. The pre-placement talk delivered by the executives of different companies helps students to get a good feel of the company on the basis of information related to financial indices, growth opportunities, product range, market share and professional outlook. Placement service invites the companies right from the first term (September/October) till the end of second term (December/January & February). (More than 25 companies participated in the program in last year 2002-2003). A candidate once selected in an interview is not allowed to appear for further interviews. The principle ‘One Student One Job’ is strictly followed in the interest of the student community at large. What companies look for in a potential candidate? A student’s academic performance in all semesters. Summer/winter vacation training. A good contribution in project work. Extra curricular activities in sports, cultural programs, debate and drama, reflecting upon the potential professional skills like leadership, communication, creativity and innovation, initiative, enthusiasm, attitude and aptitude aptitude. Growth projects, culture Whether a company insists for legal bound? (The financial and legal implications).How do we train our students? What training do we provide? A special effort is made to train the final year students to inculcate different skills necessary to face the campus interviews. The students exposed to the techniques of testing their communication skills through group discussions (GD). They are asked to solve test papers popularly known as aptitude G.D.S. objective test. Mock interviews, mock G.D.S. are conducted to help students to sharpen their skills. Eminent guest faculties from industries are called to deliver lectures on topics such as ISO 9000, T.Q.M., B.P.R., KAIZEN etc. Information on different job profiles and SWOT analysis. Utilize your vacation to prepare yourself for group discussions, aptitude tests, knowledge about the current affairs, presentation techniques etc. Prepare your bio data in such a way that it should look neat and impressive with relevant information. Read the company brochures kept in college library to understand the company profiles, policy and mission statements. Cultivate the habit of reading balance sheet and chairman’s speech to understand the well being of company. Read the leading newspapers, magazines, business papers along with technical journals related to different branches of engineering. Manage the time effectively and efficiently in 7th and 8th semester in order to cope up with the work in areas of your academics, information technology, project and seminars and campus interview preparation

Training & Placement Cell (TPC) is dedicated to enable and encourage the students to develop their core skills for achieving success in their chosen fields. This cell is a forum for Industry-College Interaction and endeavors to: Act as a link between the prospective employers and the young engineers.Assist in providing employment opportunities to the students in leading organizations. Provide a panoramic view of the recent trends in the field of engineering through guest lectures, technical symposiums, and presentation of technical papers on emerging technologies in different fields of engineering. Hold group discussions, mock interviews and debates among the students to hone student’s communication and presentation skills. Coordinate with the industrial enterprises of the region in order to facilitate the training of students. This helps in improving employability of the students to keep pace with changing world. The cell is headed by a professional with rich experience from industry. It is further assisted by all the engineering departments and a placement committee of students, drawn from various disciplines.It endeavors to ensure the placement of maximum number of students passing out of this college in Industries of repute.
