Bidhan Chandra College

Sri Sasti Narayan Gorai made a contribution of 1,11,111/- for foundation of the college. The government of West Bengal also realizing the need for such a college at Asansol responded by bringing the college under the sponsored scheme from its very inception at 1961 in the name of the institution son of West Bengal Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. The foundation stone of the new building of the Bidhan Chandra College was to the great fortune of the college laid by Dr. Sarbapally Radha Krishnan, then the Vice-President of India in November, 1961.

Bidhan Chandra College Asansol, owes its origin to the energetic and sincere efforts of the members of Asansol Educational Development Committee, Relief and Welfare Society, the major programme of which was to establish a first grade college at Asansol with a view to meet the increasing demand of the vast industrial area for higher education.

The campus of Bidhan Chandra College is situated on 27.10 bighas of land with 2.06 acres of annexed land and location in a beautiful place with free and congenial atmosphere only three kilometers away from Asansol railway Station and one and the half kilometers from Burnpur industrial town.

It is just beside the B.C.College Road and very adjacent to Budha water supply tank. The college in all three sections- morning, day and evening with the total number of student strength of 3000 combining science, arts and commerce pass course and honours together. The students are assisted by 100 teachers and sixty six non teaching non teaching staff.

In BBA(H) dept. one marketing background faculty was recruited to teach subjects in Human Resource. The faculty member had completed his MBA through Distance education from Sikkim manipal University - study centre, Asansol. How will he teach Human Resource specialisation papers when he himself had not learnt the papers.
