MASTERS OF FINANCE AND CONTROL

The MFC Programme seeks to equip a select group of students with conceptual and analytical skills for financial decision making. What sets this course apart from contemporary courses in the area of management is the balanced blend in various aspects of Finance. The students are provided with inputs in the basic areas of managerial decision-making such as Organizational Behaviour, Managerial Economics, Quantitative Techniques, Financial Accounting, Corporate Laws etc., as well as in different areas of finance such as Financial Management, Financial Services, International Finance, International Accounting, Investment Management, Project Appraisal etc.

To keep students abreast with the latest developments in the field of finance, the curriculum has been updated with effect from 1998-99 to include new courses such as Derivatives & Risk Management, Treasury management, Real Estate Investment Management, Insurance Management, Mutual Funds Management, Equity Research etc. The revised curriculum consists of thirty courses including an industry project study and an 8-10 week Summer Training Programme in reputed organizations. The summer training Programme offers the students an opportunity to put the acquired financial knowledge to practice and also to leverage on the experience gained in their second year. The edge is further sharpened by constant interaction with the industry through the Annual Convention, Seminars, Workshops, Symposia and Research work

The revised MFC curriculum redefines the paradigm of finance education in the country. It builds on its strength of in-depth knowledge, applied problem solving, global experience, cross-functional integration and innovative spirit. The Programme has several new courses covering key issues in emerging areas of finance such as derivatives & risk management, treasury management, mutual fund management, real estate investment management, etc.

The MFC Programme offers excellent career opportunities in the field of corporate finance, international finance, investment analysis & portfolio management, money & capital markets including stock exchanges, depository services & stockbroking, financial services like merchant banking, leasing, credit rating, venture capital etc., banking and financial institutions, insurance, real estate, mutual funds, treasury operations and financial consultancy and advisory services.

Eligibility
Graduate (under 10+2+3)/Post-Graduate in any discipline, viz. Arts, Humanities, Commerce, Management, Social Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Engineering, Technology, Agriculture, Law, Pharmacy and Medicine with 50% marks, from the University of Delhi or any other University recognised as equivalent thereto. Reservation of seats according to the University rules for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged candidates. Candidates appearing for the final year of there Bachelor's Degree can also apply for admission.

With more than 80 colleges under its umbrella, the University of Delhi, better known as DU, is definitely the most prestigious universities in the country today. The varsity is known for its high standards in teaching and research. The university has been ranked one of the best universities in the world. The University was established in the year 1922, with just three colleges under its umbrella namely St. Stephens College (founded in 1881), Hindu College (founded in 1899) and Ramjas College (founded in 1917). Sir Maurice Gwyer, who was the Vice Chancellor of the University, realizing the immense importance of a distinguished faculty, searched for talent all over the country and brought men of eminence to this University, such as Prof. D S Kothari in Physics, Prof. T R Sheshadri in Chemistry, Prof. P Maheshwari in Botany and Prof. M L Bhatia in Zoology. During the last over seven decades the University has grown into one of the largest universities in India. The University offers a colossal 447 different courses in fields like Commerce, Sciences, Arts, International Languages, Engineering etc at the undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil, Ph.D., diploma and certificate levels. At present, there are 13 faculties, 76 departments and 8 centres of learning operating in the University. The colleges affiliated to DU are spread all over the city divided under the north, south, east, west and central regions.

Hostel & accomodation:

The campus provides excellent residential arrangements for students providing hygienic food, recreation rooms, gymnasium, back up generators, intercom facilities, laundry and 24 hour wireless internet connection. In addition, the Hostel has guest room, visitor’s room and facilities for indoor and outdoor sports and recreation. Library : The rich and updated library in the campus houses over 2,00,000 titles and subscribes to over 500 periodical journals and business publications.
