Online Application begins from 3rd June 2013 to 17th June 2013 (10 am – 1 pm & 2 pm - 4 pm each day).

The MA (English) programme is offered in 12 colleges that come under the jurisdiction of the Main Campus, 8 colleges that come under the jurisdiction of the South Campus, and through the Non- Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB). The entrance exam will be held on 30th June, 2013 at 11.00 AM to 12.30 PM.

Who can Apply?/Eligibility Criteria

A. Direct Admission:

General Category OBC/SC/ST/PwD/CW
At least 60% in BA

Honours (English) of the

University of Delhi from

2011 onwards

At least 54% in BA Honours

(English) of the University of

Delhi from 2011 onwards

B. Admission through Entrance Test:

Candidates seeking admission through Entrance Test should fulfill both (a) and (b) below:

(a) Qualifying examination:

General Category OBC/PwD/CW

SC/ST

(i)         At least 45% in the

BA Honours (English) of the University of Delhi

OR

(ii)        At least 50% in the aggregate of a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized Indian University

(i) At least 40.5% for OBC

and 40% for PwD/CW in the BA Honours

(English) of the

University of Delhi

OR

(ii) At least 45% in the aggregate of a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized Indian University

“minimum pass marks

of the qualifying examination concerned of the University of Delhi … or at least the

same percentage of pass marks at the qualifying examination as prescribed for the equivalent examination of Delhi University”

Merit List, cut off, and allotment of Campus

  • For admission through Entrance Test, the Merit List will be prepared on the basis of the rank obtained in the Entrance Test and the choice of the campus indicated by the candidate in the Application form.
  • Separate Merit Lists will be drawn for each category and for each Campus as per the schedule.
  • The cut off for admission will be the same for both the campuses in the first and the second Merit
  • List. All the candidates above the cut off will be given their first preference of campus.
  • In the third list, the cut offs may vary for the Main Campus and the South Campus, and therefore candidates may be allotted seats as per availability of seats and if they cannot be given their first preference, the second preference may be considered.
Entrance Exam Pattern

(i) There will be a common Entrance Test for Admission to the MA programme for the Main Campus, the South Campus, and the NCWEB conducted by the Department of English.

(ii) The test will be held in the Main Campus, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007. Room and Building- wise sitting plan will be displayed at the Arts Faculty Building in the Morning of the Entrance Test.

(iii) The Entrance Test will be designed to test the candidates’ proficiency in English language (including comprehension and writing skills) and their knowledge of English literature and other literatures.

(iv) The duration of the test will be 90 minutes and the test will comprise three parts:

  • Part A: objective type questions (60 marks)
  • Part B: a question on an unseen passage of prose or verse (20 Marks)
  • Part C: a short essay question on a general literary topic (20 Marks).

(v) For candidates belonging to the General Category, the Department may fix a cut off mark for Part A after reviewing the overall performance. The parts B and C of only those candidates who clear the cut off will be evaluated. No such cut off is usually fixed for Part A for candidates belonging to the Reserved Categories.

I need to ask that i have just given my exams of B.A eng hons (correspondence) from delhi university .... can i apply for the entrance test ???
