Government Polytechnic, Pune - Government Polytechnic, Pune, was established in the year 1957. Thirtyseven years later, in May 1994, the institute was awarded academic autonomy.

Today it houses in its 28 acre campus, a main building, students hostels, classrooms for various faculties including Electronics & Computers, Library, Canteen, post office and other facilities and has the capacity to groom more than 300 students in various engineering fields every year.

Over the last four decades, the institute has produced more than 8000 diploma engineers in different disciplines, has won several awards in academics as well as socio-cultural activities and on the whole has succeeded in contributing humble positive efforts towards the building of a progressive society.

The institute campus is spread across 28 acres of area in prime location and is equipped with a complete range academic and civic facilities. The total built up area of 31000 sq. m includes - A two storeyed main building houses ___ class rooms and administrative offices. Separate building for workshop, Examination Section and Drawing Hall. Boys hostel with two separate wings to accomodate 350 students Girls hostel with a capacity of 60 students. Separate building constructed under World Bank Project for Electronics and Computer Department. Related civic amenities Post office, Canteen, Gymkhana Hall, Badminton court, Playground Co-operative Society, Boat Club on Mula river and Staff Quarters. COMPUTERISATION The Polytechnic continuously attempts to upgrade and update its technology and databases to avail of the latest technology resources for the benefit of the students. There are about 40 computers in the 3 labs, with internet connectivity and scanning facility. There are 16 Pentium processors with Windows NT, Novell Netware and Linux platforms. There are 10 computer systems installed in various departments and linked through Windows NT. All Departments enjoy Internet connectivity through Proxy Server.
