Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology

Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology (H.I.E.T) was established in Chennai in 1966 in response to the need for non-formal technical education. Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology is run by the Hindustan Engineering Training centre (HETC) Educational society and registered as a Technical Education Society under the Societies Act, XXI Of 1860. The institution is approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India, for conducting Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course and by All India Counsel for Technical Education and the Government of Tamil Nadu for conducting Diploma courses in Automobile, Computer and Mechanical Engineering courses.

The Institution has trained engineers and technicians in many disciplines of Engineering. It is well equipped with workshops and laboratories. HIET is widely recognized in the Asian and African continents as a premier technical institution. Various Governments including the Government of Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and the Commonwealth Secretariat and several aviation organizations have sponsored students to undergo courses at HIET. HIET has trained over 36,000 engineers and technicians. Over 3,000 of them are in aviation, now working with various airlines and aviation industries in India and abroad

International Community The Institute under the banner of Hindustan comprise students from all around the globe. Students from all the states of India and other foreign countries like China, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, U.A.E., Oman, Ethiopia and South Africa to mention few, from the international family at Hindustan. Digital Library Every institute run by Hindustan has well equipped libraries with many technical books, a large number of Indian and foreign technical journals and an excellent collection of light reading material. The library also has a large collection of video cassettes and CDs of technical and management subjects for the use of staff and students. Online access system is available in libraries. Infrastructure The college is well planned and aesthetically designed by leading architects and is also beautifully landscaped to house academic blocks, state-of-the-art workshops and laboratories. Computer labs are avilable to students and are configured with the latest Pentiums and wired to the internet through dedicated leased lines offering excellent connectivity for research, etc., Training on industrial software packages are also done in our labs. All the computers throughout our campus are connected through internet connectivity using HDSL technology. Sports and Games The institution has beautifully maintained playgrounds and facilities for basket ball, volleyball, cricket, tennis, horse riding, water sports and other games including an indoor badminton court and also table tennis and billiards. A well equipped gymnasium is also available for boys and girls. Councelling Service & Students Support Services Counseling services is offered by our institutions for students who have difficulty in coping with their courses, for those with personal problems and for those who are not able to enjoy college life. In case of any counseling service required about any problem, the students may consult our counsellors who shall assure strict confidentiality of any information provided in this regard.

Hostel & accomodation:

We are committed to provide quality accommodation for over 1000 students on campus and have separate hostels for boys and girls. The college and all the institutes have hostels within the campus for the convenience of students. Healthy meals are served in the dining halls. Fully furnished air-conditioned rooms are also available. Residents can opt for vegetarian, non-vegetarian, Indian and continental mess.
