Student Analytics . India as we all know is a land of diverse cultures, the student community at IILM comes from diverse backgrounds. Amongst the many strengths that IILM has garnered for itself, as an institute, one of it is the diversity of its students. Our students bring with them the incredibly rich and different backgrounds and experiences. This is the finest and purest from of multiculturalism (the ideology of including people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds). They speak different languages and come from different geographic locations. Assam, west Bengal, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, South of India to name a few. The interaction with in the student community is great for their global and local view points. They not only share time in classrooms , they also end up sharing hostels, paying guest accommodations. Living away from their respective families gets them closer to each other. They automatically learn how to deal with different people and circumstances. The clubs and socities that the student’s community forms also teaches them to work in different groups. They come out of their comfort zones and break norms to naturally learn how to work in teams and handle difficult situations. Accepting differences and diversity is the best method of managing conflict. The Academic body has definitely welcomed the situation and does definitely understand that teaching students from such varied backgrounds requires extremely sensitive handling, therefore the stress on one on one counseling . The need for ways to foster a open and safe environment for all students has also been identified. This recognition of the diversity in the society has already resulted in significant and much needed curricular changes. For instance special value added courses are being administered to the students to create conducive environment for learning by accepting diversity and fostering an environment of developmental learning.
