Institute of Hotel Management - Institute of Hotel Management was established in the year 1972 as Food Craft Institute, as a registered society, under the State Technical Education Department, Sponsored by Govt. of India and Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. It was upgraded into the Institute of Hotel Management, in 1984 and in 1986 affiliated to the fold of National Council for Hotel Management, Catering Technology, New Delhi, an autonomous body set up by the Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Govt. of India. Since then, the complete process of conducting a common entrance examination, year-end examinations, providing, reviewing & updating of common syllabus, awarding of certificates and conduct of faculty development programmes is being monitored by the National Council on all India basis.

This institute is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism Govt. of India.
Funding:
It relies completely on self finance for Revenue Expenses. In respect to Capital Expenses, the Govt. of India, Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation, does the funding.
Other activities:
* Institute undertakes consultancy for Industrial Canteens, Railways, Catering, Food Industries etc.
* Develops software for various hotel related applications and student learning activities.
* Undertakes outdoor catering for Government functions and other important functions as well as deputes the students to luxury hotels on request for special arrangements.
* Training of Hotel staff is another important activity.
* Food festivals and Expos relating to Hotel and allied fields are conducted.
* COMPETITIONS: The Students of the institute participate in National level and city level competitions in different spheres of Hotel Management. The Institute also conducts/hosts such competitions from time to time, to encourage creativity among students.
