The establishment of Kasturba Medical College, Manipal in 1953 set the platform for global Education in India. This was followed by many flagship institutions, like Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal College of dental Sciences and many other world class institutions.

With just five professional colleges to start with, Manipal university has seen all-round development with diversified courses conducted through professional institutes. All the professional colleges of Manipal University have excellent track record and are reputed for their academic excellence due to its consistent & stringent emphasis on quality of education. In fact, Manipal University is recognised as the first ISO 9001:2000 certified university in India.

Today, Manipal has the largest concentration of foreign students in India doing professional courses, in effect the student body of Manipal represents 52 countries who live, work and study together.
