MCA Colleges today urged the Education Ministry and Public Service Department (PSD) to speed up action on two school principals who allegedly uttered racist remarks during school assemblies.
MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said MCA also felt that Education Minister, who is Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, should have the right to make recommendations to reprimand both principals for their alleged insensitivity.
Speaking to reporters after chairing MCA's Central Committee (CC) meeting at Wisma MCA, here today, Chua said the problem should also be resolved soonest in order not to create discontent among the people.
"If the government does not act sternly and swiftly, we fear it will send the wrong signal that the government is not serious about the matter," he said.
Recently, Muhyiddin was reported to have said that he had no power over the matter as disciplinary cases involving principals of schools came under the jurisdiction of the PSD and that only the department could mete out any action on errant principals.
