The online counselling for professional courses like MSc (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Electronics), LLB, Bachelors of Computer Application and BBA run by Kanpur University and its affiliated colleges began from Sunday. The counselling would go on till June 24.
Though the entrance exam for 29 courses was held but the facility of online counselling has been given for seven courses only. The students who had cleared the entrance examination took part in the online counselling. Many of them took part in the counselling from their homes or internet cafes. As each course had limited number of seats, the students were required to lock the seats as well to secure their place for the particular course.
While the University has 3040 seats (in 28 colleges spread over in cities like Kanpur, Etawah, Lakhimpur Kheri, Raebareilly, Sitapur, Unnao, Fatehpur, Allahabad and Farrukhabad) to offer in BBA course, there are 3220 seats (in 26 colleges spread over in cities like Etawah, Kanpur, Raebareilly, Fatehpur, Farrukhabad and Allahabad) in the BCA course.
In LLB course, the university is offering 2885 seats (in 11 colleges). In MSc Biochemistry course there are a total of 160 seats in city colleges, 250 seats are there in MSc Biotechnology course and 280 in MSc Microbiology course. Also there are 150 seats in MSc Electronics course in three degree colleges in the city.
The varsity administration said that the students should have a token number for taking part in the online counselling. Those who could not take part in the counseling on Sunday need to mail the scanned copy of the admit card or the application form to firstname.lastname@example.org The university will in urn send the logging password on the students e-mail id, which he/she can use to do the needful.
The authorities of the varsity informed that after the completion of the online counseling, the students will be required to show their documents in original and get the same verified. The verification work would be done in the respective departments of the courses opted by the students. This work would commence from June 25. The university authorities also informed that document verification of the students who have opted LLB course would be held separately on June 29 in computer centre in the university premises.
The university authorities further informed that the detailed schedule about document verification has been made available on the university's website under the link-'Schedule'. The students can click on this link and view the schedule.
