Students, who have enrolled for Pune University external courses, are now required to furnish their exam forms through an online process run by the state-owned Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL).
Pune University has been offering undergraduate and postgraduate level external courses in arts, science, commerce and law streams for over two decades now, with a view to enable people outside the conventional college system, to pursue their higher education.
The new online process opened on July 22 for the university exams that are scheduled for October/November 2014 and March/April 2014 sessions. Students are required to visit www.mkcl.ws/puext for submitting their forms online by creating their login ID and password.
Annually, 58,000 students from across the university area of Pune, Nashik and Ahmednagar district and even outside the university area are availing the external course facility.
Till 2003, the university had been following the conventional paper and print medium process for enrolment of external students but, the same had its share of problems like postal delays, loss of documents in transit and loss of time and money in travelling all the way to Pune from other cities.
The university then switched over to an online enrolment system for external students but, the exam work continued to be conducted in the traditional manner. However, problems continued over delays in scrutiny of documents for grant of eligibility to the students to appear in the exam.
Exam forms for BA, B.Com, MA (Arts), MA (mental moral and social sciences) and MA/M.Sc (Maths) can be furnished online from July 22 to August 3 for the October/November 2014 session and from July 22 to August 20 for the March/April 2014 session.
