Year 1911 witnessed the birth of Bihar after the coronation of king George V at Delhi. Bihar was geographically partitioned in two parts north and south with river Ganga in between. L.S. College (previously known as Greer Bhumihar Brahmin College) was the only educational institution in north Bihar. In the legal education Patna Law College was the only college affiliated to Patna University till 1948.
With the down of independence large number of educational institutions came up in Muzaffarppur, and north Bihar with munificence of eminent social personalities. Shri L. P. Shahi & Shri Mahesh Prasad Singh were the mentor of the idea of establishing an institution in the field of legal education. The idea received overwhelming support of some legal luminaries. And thus the era witnessed the birth of S. K. J. Law College.
