Sant Baba Bhag Singh Institute of Education came on the map of teacher education in Punjab, from the academic session 2005- 06. It is a co- educational institute, recognized by NCTE and affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, having a sanctioned strength of 100 seats. The Institute is embedded in Sant Baba Bhag Singh Educational Complex spread over 200 acres of land, touching the borders of Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur districts.
SBBSIE has entered the fourth year of its existence as the third batch of B.Ed. has passed out in June 2008. Sant Baba Bhag Singh Institute of Education will be committed to produce dedicated and professionally competent teachers.
In the year 2007, S.B.B.S.I.E has added another useful course i.e. P.G.D.C.A. (TE) with an in take of 45 students. The minimum qualification for this course is Graduation (with minimum 45 % marks). In the near future the institute is hopeful to start M.Ed. course, which will meet the need of Teacher Educators in this region.
The main catchments area of this complex is Doaba region of Punjab; however, students from other regions feel privileged to get education from the various constituent institutes of this complex. The current session of B.Ed institute commenced on August 11, 2005 with the recitation of gurbani, shabad kirtan and blessings of Shri Guru Granth Sahib ji. Sant Baba Malkiat Singh ji, Chairman, SBBS Memorial Charitable Society, graced the occasion and blessed the prospective teachers, staff and parents, with his words of wisdom.
The Campus SBBSIE located beautifully in the heart of Punjab and away from city/industrial pollution offers excellent learning environment. The campus of Sant Baba Bhag Singh Education; has come up on land acquired by Sant Baba Bhag Singh Educational Society. The campus at village Khiala, P.O Padhiana,District Jalandhar,Punjab,India, is 30 Kms from Jalandhar, 20 Kms from Phagwara,18 Kms from Hoshiarpur, 10 from Adampur Doaba,6Kms from Kathar(on Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur Highway) and 4 Kms from Phuglana (on Phagwara- Hoshiarpur Road).
The Campus is well connected with all the above places by road most of which have been built by people of region under patronage of Dera Sant Baba Bhag Singh Ji.Campus has more than 1,00,000 sq. feet covered area of Instructional and Office buildings. It,s workshop is Spread over in 13,000 Sq. feet. Separate fully furnished Boys Hostel and Girls Hostel with covered area of 30,000 sq.feet each are available. The Institute is in the process of adding more Instructional Buildings in near future so that it would become full-fledged big self sufficient technical institute.
The campus has its' own Tube well and Overhead Tank for water supply. In addition to P.S.E.B Electric Supply the Institute has two generators sets to ensure 24 hour Power Supply. The internal Roads have been constructed. Landscaping and beautification of the Campus is in progress. The Institute has its own Sewage treatment plant so that a pollution free and green environment can be maintained.
