Thiruthangal Hindu Nadars, settled in Chennai planned to form an organization for their welfare, assembled at Backia Bhavanam (located in Tondiarpet, Chennai) of T.A.S. Rathinam & Brothers, on 14th September, 1956 . 52 persons attended the meeting, and established The Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai Dharma Fund (a Charitable Fund of Thiruthangal Hindu Nadars living in Chennai). The first Anniversary was held on 15th September 1957 . The said fund was registered in 1961 under the Societies Registration Act. This organization was established with the arduous efforts of Thiru. S.Gurusamy Nadar of Thiruthangal, Thiru.P.S.Thangaiah Nadar of Rajapalayam, Thiru.T.A.S. Arumugam of Chennai. In the early periods of the establishment of the Uravinmurai Fund, Thiru.T.A.S. Chelliah served as President and Thiru.S.M. Gurusamy Nadar, Thiru “Lathas” K. Thangappa Nadar, Thiru.S. Chinnadurai have collectively rendered yeomen service for the growth of the organization in the initial period of its establishment.
The next milestone event took place in 1968 when the organization purchased a site in G.A. Road , (Now P.A.N. Rajarathinam Road), Washermenpet, Chennai-21. In the said site, a magnificent building with Door No. 113, named as Thiruthangal Nadar Arangam-en epitome of the Member’s unity and solidarity was constructed with the great efforts of Thiru.M.G.Erulangudi Nadar, Treasure of Chennaivazh Thiruthangal Hindu Nadar uravinmurai Dharma fund who was fondly addressed as “Elam Hariharaputranar”. The Arangam was inaugurated on 23rd May 1983 to serve the community at large. The following persons served as the Office Bearers of the Uravinmurai Dharma Fund during the year 1980-83.
