The Vokkaligara Sangha was founded in the year 1906 in Bangalore City and was registered under the Societies Registration act in the erstwhile Mysore State.
The main objectives of the Vokkaligara Sangha is to promote social, cultural and educational aspirations of the community.
The Vokkaligara Sangha is being managed by the elected members representing the entire community throughout the State of Karnataka.
During the past few decades, the Vokkaligara Sangha has established several academic institutions in most of the disciplines in the main campus at V.V. Puram, which is located in the heart of Bangalore City campus for basic medical sciences, at Banashankari about 4 kilometers away from V.V. Puram and another campus at Sreegandada Kaval was established in the western outskirts of Bangalore City. There are now 16 educational institutions run by the Vokkaligara Sangha. The KIMS, B.I.T., V.S. Dental Colleges stands 1st among the private Professional Colleges in Karnataka.
The inception of V.S. Dental College took place in July 1986 with the motto of Knowledge and Development and these objectives:
To impart quality education in the field of Dental Surgery and allied subjects.
To impart quality training for academic and clinical skills.
To bring out professionals with high ethical values.
To provide quality research and scientific data Facilities to enhance the knowledge of the professionals.
To Produce individuals with high morality, integrity and emotional intelligence who are capable of working as a team.
Vokkaligara Sangha Dental College & Hospital is located in the heart of the city close to main Rail and Bus Station. Occupying nearly 1,20,000 sq.ft. V.S. Dental College was affiliated to Bangalore University and now is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The College got it recognition from D.C.I. in the year 1992. Dental Council of India has permitted Post Graduate Studies in the year 2001 in all the specialities Dentistry. Today V.S. Dental College and Hospital is one of the most sought after institutions in India both for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions.
Clinics and laboratories are well equipped with state of the art equipment. Pre clinical departments are located in the new building of KIMS hospital and Banashankari campus. College buses are available for transport of students from pre Clinical block. Excellent clinical training is rendered to students and there are about 300 - 500 patients.
